Synopsis:

Guyi Guyi is brought to FeSTeLõn by Periferia Teatro to form a part of FeSTeLõn Kids. As a new addition to the festival’s programme, FeSTeLõn Kids has been introduced as a way of involving young children in spoken-Spanish theatre and Periferia Teatro was the perfect choice to do so. Since their beginnings in 1989 the company has been dedicated to theatrical puppetry aimed at children.

Taking inspiration from the classic ‘Ugly Duckling’ story, Guyi Guyi tells the story of a crocodile, also named Guyi Guyi, who is born into a family of ducks. Guyi Guyi lives happily with his strange family until one day he finds himself lost and meets another crocodile. From this encounter Guyi Guyi learns that, in reality, most other crocodiles actually eat ducks. This discovery spurs Guyi Guyi to go on a journey of self-discovery where he reflects on our fear of the ‘other’ and the prejudices that we might have about those who behave differently.
