Handmade

What a powerful opening event for FesTeLõn!

Just like Javier “Peke” Rodríguez explained at the beginning of the concert, he made us see with our ears. It was an emotional journey, fusing cultures through the music to open the festival. There couldn’t have been a better first night. The curtain opens! Click on the photos below to open the gallery! (Photos by Angeles Rodenas © Festelon)

Synopsis:

The secret of the childhood is that it should be there, in the background, contextualising, like a star in the sky.

“Handmade” is about minimalism; a piano shimmering like an impressionist painting (a Monet) facilitates the juxtaposition of funny stories and moments: the rain, the park, church bells, Madame Curie, the ride of the Dalai Lama…

Throughout the recording, the piano takes turns in being part of the backdrop, picking out rhythms like raindrops, or playing long sustained melodies.

Javier “Peke” Rodriguez wraps up a triumphant year in 2019 with more than 10 “handmade” recording sessions in his own studio in London, followed by a sold out tour in Europe. Concert information on the website www.pekerodriguez.com
